The Toyota Caldina (Japanese: トヨタ・カルディナ, Toyota Karudina) is an automobile manufactured by Toyota for the Japanese market from 1992 to 2007. It replaced the Corona and Carina wagons, and was sold at Toyota and Toyopet stores throughout Japan.  While the Caldina has never been officially exported by Toyota, its All-trac 4WD capability and large capacity have made it a popular grey import in Australia, New Zealand, Russia and many South American countries. When it was discontinued in 2007, the Avensis wagon/estate assumed its market position.

According to Toyota, the name “Caldina” is inspired by the Italian (and English) adjective “cardinal”, meaning “essential” or “fundamental”.

This 1994 Toyota Caldina is beautiful blueish green, gray two-tone featuring Toyotas full time 4WD system, a factory optioned front brush guard and rear spoiler. This one was also quite kitted out by it’s original owner in Japan with a lot of fun, period correct JDM goodies including carbon fiber style side mirrors, a carbon fiber style front strut brace, a Japanese onboard TV system, aluminum Razo pedal covers, and Watanabe style painted alloy wheels all around. The interior features a plush cloth upholstery with captains chairs up front that hug and support just right. The rear features spacious trunk space, with a fold down 3 seater middle row, to allow for full cargo loads when desired. Toyota window vent visors are at all 4 windows, allowing for air flow when raining. The wagon is powered by Toyota’s 3S-FE engine, the pre 96 version of the engine, meaning it’s most reliable form. These 3S engines were fitted in the early 90s Camry and 1st generation Rav4 in North America – they are similar to the 5S which was the 4 cylidner engine of choice in most Toyota Camry’s from the mid 90s to the early 2000s as well. They are generally simple, fuss fee, return relatively good fuel economy and easy to service. This wagon, with only 55k original miles is ready for it’s new life abroad, here in North America.
