This is a prime example of a Mitsubishi Delica L400 Space Gear. The 4th generation of the Mitsubishi Delica, a successor to the L300 / Star Wagons. The Space Gear saw a vast improvement in drivability, comfort, and power with the updated semi-bonnet design, they’ve done away with the engine hump – so you’ve got flat floors front to back. The Semi-Bonnet also means it has a proper crumple zone up front, as well as airbags, making is safer for the whole clan. This example only has 29,000 original miles and is in excellent shape! It still wears it’s original paint, a Silver Warm Springs Metallic, and is all original elsewhere as well. 15 Inch Factory alloy wheels are wrapped in Yokohama Geolander AT rubber. Factory front, side, and rear brush guards and sliders are mounted to give this van a more aggressive look out of the box. These Delicas are perhaps the most rugged and off-road capable van from the factory, certainly set up more than a Hiace or Townace of the same era stock. It’s powered by the Mitsubishi 4M40 Turbo Diesel Intercooled 2.8 Liter engine, a mechanically injected, timing chain driven solid powertrain, mounted to an automatic 4 speed transmission. It is much more powerful than it’s predecessor and these vans simply combine the capability of a Tacoma, 4runner, or Montero with the added space and versatility of a van body. It has a proper part-time transfer case featuring 3 modes. 2 Hi, 4 Hi, 4 Hi LC ( Locked center diff ) and 4Lo LC. Yes, it has a lockable center differential as well. It seats 8, with a middle bench that can face front, back, or sideways! Factory curtains line the interior windows as well. There are also two sunroofs for all the moon-gazing you wish to do. Haul the family around, use it as your own overland cabin, or daily drive it. It won’t care, it will happily do it all and for many years to came. This one is barely broken in, and we simply don’t find them like this!
